Bec Bate (née Crawley)
I'm a graphic designer by trade, marketing problem solver by nature.
I’ve always sought work in which I use my skills for good – I think that’s what work-life balance is all about. That's why I love working with startups and businesses with a sustainability focus.
Early on in my career, I realised graphic design was not just something I enjoyed but also a specialty with the ability to bring a brand and business into the light (or keep it in the dark, but let's not focus on that!).
I’ve noticed that having design in my marketing toolbox is a bit of a superpower for startups because they need to stand out visually but don’t often have the ability to with their early marketing hires.
Over the last 5+ years, I’ve worked in all-rounder marketing and design roles for clients including Suho, Hubble and Reusably, serving as a one-person marketing team (or “powerhouse” as some clients have kindly referred to me).
I enjoy working with clients to understand their marketing objectives and challenges, and I believe there’s always a way – often many – to rise to a challenge. That’s what drives me. You’ll find me happiest when I have a plan in place and am on the tools, rolling it out via design, social media, content and many other ways to make an impact for our awesome startup clients.
What gets me up in the morning
Coffee kickstarts my morning, fueling my passion for graphic design! While I may not be the biggest fan of early mornings and often prefer burning the midnight oil, the prospect of my designs making a tangible impact drives me forward. I'm particularly drawn to businesses with a mission for social good, and I can't wait to lend my design skills to help them amplify their message and impact.
My startup superpower
Bringing design into the mix early to make marketing efforts sing.
Friday night fave
I am a crafter by nature. I love nothing more than sitting down with some Grey's Anatomy and working on my latest craft project - whether it's a knitted jumper, scrapbooking or painting.
